We had a restaurant here (Ebenezer's) that did Flower Pot Bread. I asked them
how they did it. Thank goodness, too, they closed a few years ago!
Pick up any clay flower pot from whatever store you use. It has to be brand
new. Now wash it THOROUGHLY!!! I can't stress this enough, clay pots contain
lead and if washed thoroughly there is no chance of food poisoning. Label the
outside of your pot food only. Mix up a batch of your fave white bread. Follow
directions up to the point where it says to put into a greased pan. At this
point you will sub your greased flower pot. Fill the pot 2/3 full of dough and
bake according to directions. You will need to adjust the time it takes to bake
but it is pretty close. You can use any size flower pot you'd like as long as
you fill it 2/3 full and leave room at the top for it to expand. I like to make
up honey butter to put on my bread when it's done.
