Applesauce Gumdrop Cake

2 cups shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup Brazil nuts, chopped
1 cup small mixed gumdrops, cut into pieces
1 cup seeded raisins
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons allspice

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and applesauce in which soda has been dissolved. Add flour and mix. Add floured raisins, nuts, dates, gumdrops and spices; mix well. Bake in loaf pan for 45-60 minutes at 350 degrees F.
