Brown Sugar Pound Cake

Brown Sugar Pound Cake recipe

Yield: 15 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour* a tube or Bundt pan.
  2. Cream shortening.
  3. Add sugars and beat well.
  4. Beat in egg yolks one at a time.
  5. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  6. Add flour mixture alternately with milk.
  7. Add pecans and vanilla extract.
  8. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  9. Pour batter into prepared tube or Bundt pan.
  10. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
