Paradise Cake

1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 well-beaten eggs
1 small can crushed pineapple
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon each baking soda, baking powder,
    vanilla extract and cinnamon

Cream sugar and butter and mix well. Add eggs and other ingredients. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees F.

Makes two 9-inch layers. Use your favorite icing.
