Shawneetown Cake

2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
In large mixing bowl, combine eggs and buttermilk. Beat in sugar, flour, vanilla
extract, cinnamon and baking soda: set aside.
Combine butter, water and cocoa in medium saucepan; bring to boil. Reduce heat
and continue boiling for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then, add to butter
and beat until smooth and well blended. Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake in preheated 400 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick
inserted in center comes out clean. Cool.
Spread evenly with Icing.
Icing:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 pound powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts
Combine butter, milk and cocoa in a medium saucepan; bring to boil, reduce heat
and continue boiling 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Beat with sugar until
smooth. Stir in vanilla extract and nuts.
