Pam Pam East Steak Soup
This recipe is from the Pam Pam East restaurant in San Francisco, California.
Ingredients
- 1 pound round steak, finely chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 3 sticks celery, finely chopped
- 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 cups canned diced tomatoes
- 3 quarts beef stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Accent*
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 cups Half-and-Half
Instructions
- Braise meat and onions in a large pot.
- Add vegetables, butter and flour. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, beef stock and all spices. Simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently. Add Half-and-Half the last 5 minutes before removing from heat. If mixture is too thick, add more beef stock and adjust seasoning.
Notes
* Omit if you cannot tolerate monosodium glutamate.
This soup freezes well.
