Texas Brownies
Ingredients
Brownie
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Icing
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
Brownie
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix together sugar and flour.
- Put butter, water and cocoa in a saucepan and let melt.
- Add all remaining ingredients and mix.
- Bake in a 15 x 10 inch jellyroll pan for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Ice while warm.
Icing
- Put butter, milk and cocoa in a pan and melt together. Remove from heat.
- Add confectioners' sugar and nuts.
- Spread on brownies while warm.
