Brownie and Blondie Recipes

Gooey St. Louis Brownies

Brownie:
3/4 cup butter or margarine (1 1/2 sticks)
6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Gooey Topping:
2 large eggs
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Prepare Brownie: In 3-quart saucepan, heat butter and chocolate over medium-low heat until melted, stirring frequently. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla extract. Add eggs; stir until well mixed. Stir in flour and salt just until blended. Spread batter in pan.

Prepare Gooey Topping: In medium bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat eggs, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract until well combined. Gently spread topping over brownie. Bake brownie 55-60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted
2 inches from edge comes out almost clean and top turns golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cool before cutting.
