I made this sauce for my ribs the other day along with Kevin Taylor's Piggy
Park BBQ Sauce. My motivation behind making this sauce is that we will be moving
to another place soon and I need to start getting rid of some of the extra things
in my pantry. Anyway, my family (the guinea pigs) really liked this sauce's
slightly tangy, strong smoky flavor. I highly recommend it for people living
overseas that may not find American BBQ sauces readily available. Hope everyone
is having a nice weekend.
3/4 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Heinz chili sauce
1/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon MILD Dijon mustard (can use regular
mustard if you don't have any around)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke**
1/4 teaspoon plus a good pinch of paprika
1/4 teaspoon onion salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
**If you don't want a super-strong smoke flavor, this ingredient can be reduced
by 1/2 teaspoon. I'm going to try 2 teaspoon next time just to see what happens.
No matter what, use at least 2 teaspoons.
Mix ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 20 minutes
or until sauce thickens.
