Vanilla Cream Pie
Ingredients
Pie
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses or light com syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
Crumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup lard, butter, vegetable shortening
Instructions
Pie
- Combine all pie ingredients, except the vanilla extract, in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and continue boiling until thickened.
- Allow to cool, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour into unbaked shell.
Crumbs
- Melt shortening.
- Stir in dry ingredients.
- Crumble over top of pie.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 50 to 60 minutes.
