Cream, Chiffon and Custard Pie Recipes

Vanilla Pie

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses or light com syrup
1 cup water
1 egg, well beaten
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell

Combine all the above ingredients, except the vanilla extract, in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and continue boiling until thickened. Allow to cool, then stir in vanilla extract. Pour into unbaked shell.

Crumbs:
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup lard, butter, margarine or vegetable shortening

Melt shortening. Stir in dry ingredients. Crumble over top of pie. Bake at 375 degrees F for 50-60 minutes.
