Pizza Sauce
Yield: almost 2 cups
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add garlic and saute for 10 seconds, then add tomato paste and stir.
- Cook and stir for 1 minute, spreading paste on bottom of pan and stirring while cooking.
- Remove from heat, stir in crushed tomatoes and oregano and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread over pizza dough or store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
