Pain Perdu (Cajun "French" Toast)
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 10 to 12 slices stale French bread
Instructions
- Mix first five ingredients together. Soak the bread in this mixture for about 30 minutes, turning once to make sure the bread is completely coated.
- Melt some butter in a skillet and cook the bread on both sides.
- Serve with powdered sugar or Steen's Cane Syrup.
