Best Southern Fried Chicken Batter
Ingredients
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 4 teaspoons garlic salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Beat the egg and buttermilk together in a bowl.
- Combine the flour with the garlic salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and paprika in a large zip-top bag. Put the chicken pieces in the bag, seal it and shake to coat.
- Dip the flour-coated chicken into the egg mixture and again into the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a skillet to 365 degrees F. Brown the chicken on all sides in the hot oil.
- Turn the heat to medium-low and cook the chicken for 30 minutes or until it is cooked through.
- Drain chicken on paper towels and serve.
