Peppy Chex Party Mix

The classic party mix you love gets a spicy makeover in this recipe with the added splash of red pepper sauce.

Peppy Chex Party Mix recipe

Yield: 24 servings, 1/2 cup each

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons red pepper sauce
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1 cup bite-size pretzels
  • 1 cup garlic-flavor bite size bagel chips, or regular size bagel chips, broken into 1 inch pieces

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. In an ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt and pepper sauce.
  4. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  5. Bake uncovered for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  6. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes.
  7. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Do-Ahead Tip: Get a jump start on your party preparations. Make this snack up to 2 weeks ahead and store it tightly covered in the freezer or at room temperature.

Health Twist: If your goal is to reduce fat in recipes (and whose isn't these days?), use 3 tablespoons margarine, omit the mixed nuts and use fat-free bagel chips.
