Anise Cookies
Ingredients
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups lard (not shortening)
- 3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon anise flavoring
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup or less water or wine
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients. Roll into 2 inch diameter balls.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
- While cookies are still hot, dip lightly into a mixture of 2 tablespoons cinnamon to 1 cup sugar.
