Ingredients
- 8 ounces butter
- 1 pound granulated sugar
- 5 eggs
- 12 ounces flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 6 ounces currants
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Cream together butter and sugar, then add the beaten eggs, flour, cream of tartar and salt.
- Dissolve the baking soda in the milk and beat this in.
- Finally add the lemon juice and currants.
- Pour into a greased pan and bake at 325 degrees F for about 20 to 30 minutes.
