Chili Brie in Sourdough

Chili Brie in Sourdough was from a McCormick insert in the paper a couple years ago. It is one of my family's favorites now.

Ingredients

  • 1 (1 pound) round loaf sourdough bread
  • 1 (8 ounce) wheel Brie cheese
  • 1 tablespoon soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine spices and sugar; set aside.
  3. Cut circle in top of bread and remove bread center to make room for Brie.
  4. Spread butter in bread; sprinkle with 2 teaspoons spice mixture.
  5. With knife, make 2-inch cuts around edge of bread at 1 inch intervals.
  6. Remove rind from Brie and place in bread.
  7. Sprinkle Brie with remaining spice.
  8. Replace top of bread.
  9. Bake on baking sheet for 20 to 30 minutes.
  10. To serve, remove bread top and break into bite size pieces.
  11. Dip bread pieces into hot Brie.
