- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk
- 2 egg whites
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Rum flavoring, to taste
- Blend sugar and egg yolks. Add salt. Stir in milk and cook over medium heat until the mixture coats a spoon. Cool.
- Beat the egg whites until foamy.
- Add sugar to whites and beat until soft peaks form.
- Add egg white mixture to the custard and allow to cool.
- Add vanilla extract and rum flavoring to taste.
