Cherry Bread Delight
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 (16 ounce) can pitted dark sweet cherries
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl cream butter, sugar and brown sugar.
- Add eggs, vanilla extract and almond extract; beat until fluffy.
- Drain cherries and reserve 1/4 cup syrup.
- Slice the cherries into fourths. Add cherries and the 1/4 cup syrup.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking powder.
- Mix dry ingredients with cherry mixture.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees F for one hour on the lowest rack.
- Let cool, then dust with confectioners' sugar.
