Chocolate Brownie Bread

Yield: 16 slices

Ingredients

  • 4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup finely chopped toasted walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour* a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
  3. Add sugars; mix well.
  4. Blend in eggs, sour cream and vanilla extract.
  5. Add flour, baking powder and baking soda; mix well.
  6. Stir in walnuts.
  7. Spread into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Cut into 16 slices to serve.
