Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) soft butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Topping

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, then the flour.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract, sour cream, baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Pour 1/2 the batter into a greased tube pan.
  5. Spread 1/2 the topping over this.
  6. Pour remaining batter over topping and cover with remaining topping.
  7. Bake 50 minutes at 350 degrees F.
  8. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.
