Orange-Whipped French Toast

Yield: 2 to 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs, separated and at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Salt and cinnamon to taste
  • Drop of orange extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 slices French bread (or your favorite bread)

Instructions

  1. Whip egg white to soft peaks. Add sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, milk, salt, cinnamon and orange extract. Fold into the egg mixture.
  3. Heat a saucepan with butter. Dip bread into egg mixture. Place in saucepan and fry until golden, turn and fry the other side until golden.
  4. Serve sprinkled with orange zest, if desired.
