Blackberry Cake




  1. Add baking soda to buttermilk.
  2. Mix flour, spices and salt together.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients except blackberries to the buttermilk-soda mixture; mix well.
  4. Add the blackberries (drain all juice, if frozen or canned), and beat until well mixed. Batter will be thick.
  5. Grease and flour a tube cake pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
  7. May be served plain or with whipped cream.
