Chocolate Sin Cake

Chocolate Sin Cake is very moist and requires no frosting, but it is delicious with whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs 1 at a time. Beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Melt the chocolate morsels with the syrup in a double boiler. Add to the butter and egg mixture.
  4. Add remaining ingredients, and blend well.
  5. Pour batter into a well-greased 10-inch Bundt pan or a 10-inch round pan.
  6. Bake for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool well before turning out of pan.
