Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Put sour cream, eggs, butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar in blender container in order
listed; cover and run on high speed until smooth. Add orange rind, nuts, and dates;
cover and run on high speed until all are chopped.
Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt together into a mixing bowl; add blended
mixture and mix well. Turn batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tests done.
Remove from oven and cool
in pan on rack for 5 minutes.
Mix orange juice and 1/2 cup sugar; pour over hot cake while still in pan.
When cake is cool, turn out onto serving plate.
