Always Moist Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box Duncan Hines all butter cake mix*
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 8 ounces (1 cup) sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- All ingredients should be at room temperature.
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Combine cake mix, oil, sour cream and sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time until thoroughly mixed.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Spray (or grease) Bundt pan and sugar coat the inside of pan (this creates the crisp crust found on the old fashioned pound cakes).
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until cake test is done.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
