Chocolate Lover's Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box devil's food cake mix*
  • 1 (3 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 10-inch Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together cake mix and pudding mix.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in sour cream, melted butter, eggs and almond extract. Beat on low speed until blended. Scrape bowl, and beat 4 minutes on medium speed.
  4. Blend in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes.
  7. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
