Chocolate Turtle Sour Cream Pound Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box Duncan Hines yellow butter cake mix*
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder

Topping

  • 1 (14 ounce) bag caramels
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a Bundt pan with nonstick coating.

Cake

  1. Mix all ingredients together. Pour into prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes.

Topping

  1. Melt together caramels, butter and pecans. Pour over top of the cake.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
