Chocolate Turtle Sour Cream Pound Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box Duncan Hines yellow butter cake mix*
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
Topping
- 1 (14 ounce) bag caramels
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a Bundt pan with nonstick coating.
Cake
- Mix all ingredients together. Pour into prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
Topping
- Melt together caramels, butter and pecans. Pour over top of the cake.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
