Chocolate Twinkie Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 small box instant chocolate pudding

Filling

  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting

  • 1 can dark fudge ready-to-spread frosting

Instructions

  1. Cake: Mix all ingredients together and bake cake according to package time and temperature.
  2. Allow cake to cool, then split in half.
  3. Filling: Mix milk and flour together in saucepan. Boil until mixture is thick. Cool.
  4. Next beat this mixture with a mixer until fluffy.
  5. Add remaining ingredients one at a time beating well after each addition.
  6. Spread filling between cake layers.
  7. Frost cake with entire can of ready-to-spread frosting. You can add a pinch of baking powder to frosting before spreading.
  8. Let cake stand for at least 6 hours to develop flavor.
