Coffee Cake
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box caramel cake mix*
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
- After 15 minutes in the oven at the temperature stated on box, if the cake looks too wet in the middle, bake it a bit longer.
- Remove cake and sprinkle on a mixture of the chopped nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour melted butter over all.
- Continue baking until done, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
This cake may be frozen.
