Custard Cake with Raspberry Sauce
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix*
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup butter
Topping
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 bottle Smucker's Raspberry Sauce
Instructions
Cake
- Mix these ingredients and press into a lightly greased 9 x 13-inch
pan.
Topping
- Combine cream cheese, eggs and confectioners' sugar. Mix well and pour over top of cake mixture.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 50 minutes. To test for doneness, the top will be set when touched and lightly brown.
- Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar then swirl raspberry sauce over the top.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
