Ho Ho Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box chocolate fudge cake mix*
Filling
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter (stick, not tub) (room temperature)
- 2/3 cup Crisco
- Pinch of salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
Topping
- 1 can ready-to-spread chocolate fudge frosting
Instructions
Cake
- Bake cake according to package directions in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking pan.
- Let cake cool.
Filling
- Beat ingredients for 10 minutes on high speed until fluffy and smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
Topping
- Microwave the plastic can of frosting for 1 minute. Stir and pour over cake.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
