Mott's Deliciously Easy Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) cake mix (any flavor)*
  • Mott's Natural Apple Sauce
  • Egg whites
  • Water
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Select your flavor and brand of conventional cake mix.
  2. Spray desired size pan(s) with cooking spray.
  3. Prepare cake mix according to package directions with the following modifications. Add 1 tablespoon of flour to the dry mix and blend well. Substitute an equal amount of Mott's Natural Apple Sauce for vegetable oil and substitute an equal number of egg whites for whole eggs.
  4. Cool in pan(s) on rack. Remove when completely cool.
  5. Frost cake and garnish with fresh berries, if desired.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
