Twice the Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 1/4 ounce) box instant chocolate pudding and pie filling
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow Duncan Hines cake mix*
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (6 ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all together except nuts and chips. Beat for 2 minutes, then add chips and nuts. Mix well.
  3. Bake in a greased and floured** tube pan for about 1 hour.
  4. Cool and frost with chocolate icing.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
