Chocolate Goober Bars
Yield: 36 bars
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box devil's food cake mix*
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts
Instructions
- Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease bottom only of 13 x 9 inch pan.
- In large bowl, combine cake mix, brown sugar, peanut butter and butter at low speed until crumbly.
- Add milk and egg. Stir until blended. Spread in prepared pan.
- Sprinkle with peanuts; press nuts into mixture.
- Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until bars are set.
- Cool completely; cut into bars.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
