Four Layer Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix*
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup candy-coated milk chocolate candies
  • 1/2 cup cocktail peanuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Mix cake mix, butter and egg until blended. Spread into lightly greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees F for 16 to 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  3. Immediately sprinkle marshmallows, candies and peanuts over crust.
  4. Bake an additional 2 to 3 minutes or until marshmallows begin to melt.
  5. Cool completely; cut into bars.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
