Snickers Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 ounce) package caramels
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box German chocolate cake mix*
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup chopped dry roasted peanuts
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt caramels and milk; set aside.
  3. Mix remaining ingredients. Press half of mixture into prepared baking pan.
  4. Bake for 6 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  6. Drizzle caramel mixture over top of chocolate chips.
  7. Crumble remaining dough on top of caramel.
  8. Bake for another 20 minutes.
  9. Refrigerate for 30 minutes after cooling.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
