Chocolate Applesauce Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups applesauce
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Topping
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 (6 ounce) bag chocolate chips
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cake: In a large mixing bowl, cream butter with sugar.
- Add applesauce, eggs, flour, cinnamon, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Mix and pour into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Topping: Sprinkle Topping ingredients over the top of cake.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
