Chocolate Greeting Card Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  2. In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add butter, sour cream, eggs and vanilla extract; beat on medium speed of electric mixer for 3 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely.
  6. Transfer cake to serving plate. Frost with One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting. Decorate cake as desired.
