Granny Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 (16 ounce) can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Topping

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Glaze

  • 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cake: Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Add eggs and pineapple; mix thoroughly and pour into greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Topping: Mix together and sprinkle on top of cake.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes.
  5. Glaze: Mix ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  6. Pour over cake while still hot.
