Peanut Butter Meltaway Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vinegar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups cold water
First Topping Layer
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 3/4 teaspoon vegetable oil
Second Topping Layer
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 6 tablespoons sour milk*
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Sour the milk by adding 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vinegar to the milk.
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cake: Combine the cake ingredients.
- Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
- Let cake cool completely.
- First Topping Layer: Mix together peanut butter and vegetable oil. Spread this mixture on top of cooled cake.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Second Topping Layer: Heat all ingredients in a saucepan. Mix until smooth and it comes to a boil.
- Let cool for a few minutes.
- Pour and spread over the peanut butter layer.
- Let cool and keep refrigerated.
