Peanut Butter Meltaway Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups cold water

First Topping Layer

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon vegetable oil

Second Topping Layer

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 pound confectioners' sugar
  • 6 tablespoons sour milk*
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* Sour the milk by adding 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vinegar to the milk.

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine the cake ingredients.
  3. Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
  4. Let cake cool completely.
  5. Mix together peanut butter and vegetable oil. Spread this mixture on top of cooled cake.
  6. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  7. Heat second topping layer ingredients in a saucepan. Mix until smooth and it comes to a boil.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes.
  9. Pour and spread over the peanut butter layer.
  10. Let cool and keep refrigerated.
