  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Vanilla ice cream


  1. Sift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening and butter. Add milk, mixing in well with a spoon. Pour mixture into an 8-inch pie plate. Dot with additional butter and sprinkle with additional sugar.
  2. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
  3. Serve warm topped with strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
