Shortcake

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 tablespoon shortening
• 1 tablespoon butter
• 1/2 cup milk
• Fresh strawberries
• Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

1. Sift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening and butter.
2. Add milk, mixing in well with a spoon.
3. Pour mixture into an 8 inch pie plate.
4. Dot with additional butter and sprinkle with additional sugar.
5. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
6. Serve warm topped with strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
