Cinnamon Schnapps Apple Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon schnapps
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon schnapps
  • Nuts, chopped (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  2. Cake: Mix together the apples, cinnamon and cinnamon schnapps; set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients except apples and nuts. Beat well. Drain liquid from apples and add to batter. Mix well. Add apples and nuts.
  4. Bake for 1 hour.
  5. Cool for 20 to 30 minutes before glazing.
  6. Glaze: Bring butter, sugar and water to a boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Stir in schnapps; pour over cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
