Hootenholler Whiskey Cake


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 pound seedless raisins
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup bourbon


  1. Cream butter with sugar; add beaten eggs.
  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to butter mixture. Add milk.
  3. Next mix baking soda into molasses and add to batter.
  4. Stir in raisins, nuts and whiskey.
  5. Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan and bake for 2 hours at 275 degrees F.
  6. Let cool a few minutes.
  7. Turn out on cake rack to cool completely.
