Wine Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix*
- 1 large box vanilla instant pudding
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup sherry wine
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Glaze
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon rum flavoring
Instructions
Cake
- Combine all ingredients and mix well.
- Bake in greased and floured** tube or Bundt pan for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F.
- While still hot remove from pan. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or glaze.
Glaze
- Combine ingredients, except flavoring, in saucepan. Boil 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat; add flavoring and pour over cake.
Notes
* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
