Chocolate Fudge

I have made this since I was 12 years old (30 years!) so you know it must be easy. I like it because you don't have to use the dreaded candy thermometer and it doesn't need refrigeration.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and cocoa in a medium saucepan.
  2. Stir in butter, milk and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. (Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans if you like.)
  5. Pour into an 8 inch square pan.
  6. Cut into squares.
