Pam Pam East Steak Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound round steak, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot, finely chopped
  • 3 sticks celery, finely chopped
  • 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 cups canned diced tomatoes
  • 3 quarts beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Accent*
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups Half-and-Half

Instructions

  1. Braise meat and onions in a large pot.
  2. Add vegetables, butter and flour. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes, beef stock and all spices. Simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently. Add Half-and-Half the last 5 minutes before removing from heat. If mixture is too thick, add more beef stock and adjust seasoning.

Notes

* Omit if you cannot tolerate monosodium glutamate.

This soup freezes well.
