Tomato Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 (24 or 29 ounce) can tomato puree
  • 1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1/2 pound butter

Instructions

  1. In buttered casserole cube the 8 slices of bread.
  2. Slice the butter over the bread.
  3. Dd the tomato puree, brown sugar, salt and boiling water that have been mixed together.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F, uncovered, for 1 hour.
