Draw desired shape on board and cut out with knife of choice. Ceramic saw or serrated knife with larger teeth works well. Note: The more intricate shape you choose — more curves, time and patience to cover with the fabric to make a smooth edge.
Spray board with spray adhesive and place face down on wrong side of fabric. Clip or notch fabric where necessary as you pull to back side to make a neat, flat edge, before gluing and/or stapling. You can use an electric stapler with 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch staples, using no glue.
Trim with desired options. You can add a hanger or nail directly to wall with small finishing nails, especially in Southern California or anywhere else you have earth "shakers."
